Chente Barrera
A native of San Antonio, TX, Chente Barrera began his music career
during the early '90s as a tejano session staple, lending backing
vocals and drums to recordings from artists including Juan Manuel,
Laura Canales, Gary Hobbs, and Shelly Lares. After touring with Jay
Perez and composing material for Bobby Pulido, Barrera made his solo
debut in 1998 with the album Puro Taconazo. Barrera released three
more albums over the next eight years. He received several Tejano
Music Awards in 2005 for Pedazo de Mi Corazón and snagged a 2007
Latin Grammy nomination for Best Tejano Album for Sigue el Taconazo.
