For well over 30 years MALO has been one of the most successful
and enduring Latin rock bands in the world. Their biggest hit,
“Suavecito” reached number 18 on the Billboard charts in April of
1972. “Suavecito” is a classic Latino song that continues to receive
airplay all over the U.S. on adult oriented stations.
Now, MALO is celebrating their new release on EMI Latin titled “MALO
En Vivo / Live”. The album features 3 newly recorded bonus tracks:
“Ritmo Reggaeton”, “Una Vez Mas” (Spanish version), and “Do What You
Say” (English version). This explosive album combines the old hit
tunes such as “Suavecito”, “Nena”, “Oye Mama” and “Café” plus many
more. MALO’s previous release, “The Best of MALO”, sold over 150,000
units on GNP/Cresendo R ecords
“Ritmo Reggaeton”, the 1st single off of “MALO En Vivo/Live” is a
hot and sensual tune with a lot of rhythm and percussion for the
Latino dance club scene. The tune also displays the newly revamped
sound of MALO. Sebastian Ponti Jessup, also known as “Swamkat”,
produced “Ritmo Reggaeton”. Jessup has also co-written and
co-produced the tune “Super Saucy” for hip-hop recording star Baby
Bash.
On “MALO – En Vivo/Live” fans both old and new will appreciate the
blend of up beat tunes along with soothing ballads reminiscent of
their earlier repertoire. MALO’s distinctive sound and recaptures
the vintage Latin Rock sound of the 70’s with the hip new Latin
sound of today.
