Ruben Ramos
Ruben's latest CD, titled "El Gato Negro - A Class Act", was
released in March 2000. The response from the music industry and
fans has been overwhelming, adding to his legendary status. The cool
and smooth sound of one of the hottest horn sections in Texas, the
selection of songs, combined with Ruben's distinct and sincere
voice, promises to be one of his best CDs yet.
The CD is under "Revolution Records", an Austin based independent
label, and distributed through Southwest Wholesale.
"El Gato Negro - A Class Act" Features guest artists such as Ram
Herrera, Flaco Jimenez, Rick Trevino, Alfonso Ramos, Mariachi Los
Pasajeros, George Rivas and making his debut, Ruben's son Mark
Anthony Ramos. The first single release, "Vivir Sin Aire", is
accompanied by a video that is sure to catch your eye.
In 1999, Ruben Ramos along with "Los Super Seven", won a "Grammy
Award" for "Best Mexican-American Performance". In 1998, "El Gato
Negro" was inducted into the "Tejano Music Awards" and "Pura Vida
Awards", Hall of Fame. Ruben has gained the recognition he has so
well deserved, putting him in the forefront as one of the most
sought-after and most respected artists in the industry today.
With this new status, he has had unprecedented press and radio
interviews, televised performances, autograph signings, and a
multitude of different awards. Invitations to perform across the
country have been countless. His performance at the 1996 Inaugural
Gala for President Bill Clinton won him the hearts of a nation-wide
public, building a paramount fan-base. In April of 1997, the Texas
Senate paid tribute to Ruben with a Senate Resolution for his
outstanding contributions to Texas Music.
He has had national and international performances, spanning from
the West to East coast to as far as Japan. He has performed with
artists of every genre of music from Flaco Jimenez to ZZ Top to
Carlos Santana. Through his music, he promotes Hispanic culture and
through his sincere contributions to many chartable causes, he
continues to be a role model in the music industry and in the Latin
community.
