Originally from Rio Grande, Texas "Lo Mas Solido en Musica Nortena" Grupo Solido is composed of five young men who dedicated their lives to making Tejano-Norteno Music. Meet the members of Solido. They are brothers Ben De Leon on lead vocals & bass, Medardo Garza on Bajo Sexto, Amado Garza Jr. on drums and lifelong friends Rolando Benavidez on backing vocals & percussion and Tony Peña on accordion.

Solido translated to English means firm, well grounded, reliable, rooted and stable and all these words describe Grupo Solido. Out of a tragedy the band was born, seven years ago. Ben's home was consumed in a fire and he moved in with his family and his brothers talked him into starting a band. Thus, Solido was started by brothers Ben De Leon, Medareo Garza (Marty), Amado Garza, Jr. (Chikis), and their life long friend, Rolando Benavidez, Jr. (Rolo). All hail from Rio Grande City in the southern part of Texas.

Slating such diversified musical influences as Ramon Ayala, Luis Miguel, Juan Gabriel and George Strait.

Their debut album, Hasta La Cima Del Cielo released in 2000 was a tremendous success. The album won the band many accolades, such as a nomination at the prestigious GRAMMYs in 2001 for "Best Tejano Album." But the list of awards does not end there. Solido received two Tejano Music Awards, the "Rising Star (Group)" and Ben De Leon receiving the "Rising Star (Male)."

With so much success under their belt the band now emerges with their new album, Nadie Como Tu, which was produced by Ben De Leon. Expect the same fusion of Tejano, norteño with a touch of pop in their new release with the same combination of cumbias, rancheras, boleros and baladas. Solido debuted their first single, Dile La Verdad on the international show, Diesperta America.
